Knicks’ Roster Changes After Championship Victory

The New York Knicks’ championship-winning team is undergoing significant changes. They retained Jose Alvarado, but Mitchell Robinson, a key defensive player, has signed a three-year deal with the Boston Celtics.

Robinson’s departure has been acknowledged by several teammates like Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and OG Anunoby on social media. A telling exchange occurred between Robinson and Anunoby on Instagram. Anunoby commented with a sad emoji, and Robinson replied, expressing his efforts to stay with the Knicks. He indicated the decision was not mutual.

“I tried brother, I didn’t want this to happen. Hopefully the truth comes out at some point. I’m gonna miss you big dawg! Keep being great,” Robinson commented.

James Dolan, the Knicks’ owner, made it clear after the championship win that he would not exceed the NBA’s second payroll bracket, citing it as financially unsustainable. This approach hinted at imminent changes in the team’s roster.

Mitchell Robinson played a crucial role in the Knicks’ victory over the San Antonio Spurs. He secured a decisive offensive rebound off a missed free throw, sealing the championship for the Knicks.

Robinson, a second-round pick in 2018, has experienced both challenges and triumphs with the Knicks, starting with a 17-65 record in his first season. Now, he transitions to the Celtics as part of a team in the process of reorganization.
