Kai Trump, the eldest grandchild of President Trump, recently had wrist surgery due to a golf-related injury. The 19-year-old student at the University of Miami shared the news on Instagram, confirming the procedure went well. She posted a selfie from her hospital bed, displaying her left arm in a cast and sling.
Kai, a member of the University of Miami women’s golf team, explained her need for surgery after injuring her wrist during her first tournament of the season. She stated, “While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after discussions with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff, I know I chose the best option for my long-term health and future in the game I love.”
She added that although this situation was not how she imagined the coming months, she embraces it with determination and patience. The athlete acknowledged the importance of support from loved ones during her recovery, emphasizing that “having the right people by your side makes all the difference.”
Kai expressed gratitude for the medical team at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, specifically mentioning Dr. Carlson. She thanked her doctors, family, teammates, and coaches for their support and care.
Looking ahead, Kai is focused on healing and is eager to rejoin her team. “For now, it’s all about healing and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love,” she shared.
This is not the first time Kai has had wrist surgery. She previously underwent a similar procedure six months earlier. During an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” she shared her nerves about starting her freshman year and Division I golf career at the University of Miami, noting, “[I’m] a little nervous, I’m not gonna lie, but I’m ready for the next chapter.”
When asked about her competitive nature, she credited her mother and grandfather for influencing her drive, noting that both are highly competitive.
