Jury Finds Border Agent Guilty of Assault and Misconduct

Veteran U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, Luis Uribe, testified in a federal court, asserting his respect for women and denying any involvement in crimes he was accused of. Despite his claims, the jury found Uribe guilty of numerous charges, including using his authority to commit assault and robbery.

Guilty Verdict

The jury, consisting of six men and six women, took approximately 6.5 hours to deliberate. They found Uribe guilty on 11 counts related to deprivation of rights under the color of law and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Uribe, 45, showed no visible reaction as the verdict was read in the courtroom presided over by U.S. District Judge Jorge Alonso. His family, present in the gallery, displayed emotional responses as the decision unfolded.

Following the verdict, Uribe’s supporters left the courthouse without commenting. Uribe faces a sentence ranging from 7 years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for January 21.

Case Details

The charges against Uribe stem from incidents in 2022 where he allegedly attacked four Chinese sex workers in suburban Chicago hotels. Uribe, a veteran agent at O’Hare International Airport, faced arrest in December 2025 for his alleged misconduct, which prosecutors said involved abusing his position to commit crimes rather than prevent them.

During the trial, prosecutors argued that Uribe exploited his position, violating his duty to protect. Uribe’s defense claimed the alleged victims were deceitful, calling Uribe a flawed individual but alleging a setup was in play regarding immigration issues.

Evidence and Testimonies

Evidence presented included Uribe’s service-issued Glock firearm and badge, both of which victims claimed Uribe used during the assaults. DNA evidence linked Uribe to the crime scene, and his phone contained a selfie with the gun. Four victims testified through interpreters, identifying Uribe as the attacker.

Additional evidence included testimony from an individual involved in the sex trafficking network, who suggested Uribe was offered allowances to cease his attacks. This included a proposal of free sex in exchange for stopping the assaults, allegedly accepted by Uribe.

Defense and Closing Arguments

Uribe testified, denying the allegations and suggesting the encounters were consensual, while claiming coercion threats were made against him. During intense cross-examination, Uribe’s response to a question about a specific encounter drew criticism, which his attorney later sought to mitigate by attributing it to frustration with the proceedings.

In closing arguments, the defense urged jurors to disregard Uribe’s inappropriate comment, contextualizing it as an expression of frustration. The prosecution, however, emphasized the sincerity and courage of the victims’ testimonies and challenged the credibility of Uribe’s statements, urging the jury to focus on the impact and behavior demonstrated by Uribe through the trial.
