Adam Levy, son of the renowned Judge Judy Sheindlin, steps into the spotlight with his new syndicated reality court series, “Adam’s Law.” Levy, the presiding judge of the show, reflects on the advice his mother offered before his debut. Known for her blunt manner, Sheindlin encouraged him to stay true to himself and enjoy the process, saying, ‘Have fun, do what you do, don’t let people lead you to places where you don’t feel comfortable.’
Sheindlin, at 83, not only created “Adam’s Law” but also serves as an executive producer through Queen Bee Productions. The show, distributed by CBS Media Ventures, continues the courtroom tradition established by Sheindlin’s immensely popular “Judge Judy,” which aired for 25 seasons and drew millions of viewers. Her influence remains strong as Levy embarks on his television journey.
Before his television debut, Levy held the role of Putnam County District Attorney in New York. Despite feeling pressure to live up to his mother’s legacy, he focused on demonstrating his own skills beyond familial connections. “There was a lot of pressure to prove that…it wasn’t even to myself…but to show everyone,” Levy shared.
Sheindlin, who retired from “Judy Justice,” mentors Levy regularly, emphasizing a family tradition of discussing cases together. Sheindlin remains actively involved in Levy’s show, offering insights and sharing her courtroom experience. Levy values these discussions, noting how his upbringing with Sheindlin shaped his judicial style.
On “Adam’s Law,” Levy incorporates a unique format change. Differing from his mother’s approach, he spends significant time reviewing case materials prior to courtroom proceedings. This thorough preparation aims to ensure accuracy and justice, a process that sometimes takes up to 48 hours per case.
When asked who might show more mercy in court, Levy confidently answered that it would be him, drawing from personal experiences of needing his mother’s understanding.
“Adam’s Law” airs weekdays in syndication. Local listings can be found on the show’s website.
