Indiana Farm Faces Backlash Over Corn Maze Tribute to Charlie Kirk

An Indiana farm’s decision to create a corn maze in honor of the late Charlie Kirk has sparked significant backlash from the local community. Goebel Farms in Evansville defended its decision, explaining it aimed to celebrate Kirk’s dedication to free speech. Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, was killed during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

After announcing the maze’s theme, Goebel Farms received numerous negative reviews on Google, which led to the farm removing its listing and marking the business as “permanently closed,” according to local reports. Despite the backlash, Goebel Farms issued a statement noting the intention was to encourage civil discourse, not division.

The farm stated, “We do not suggest everyone should agree with Charlie’s beliefs. We acknowledge he was a polarizing figure, but in a nation valuing free speech, no one should face violence for sharing views.”

The farm emphasized its hope for Americans to engage in open dialogues and maintain respect without resorting to hatred or violence. The message reinforced the idea that avoiding conversations can lead to deeper divisions.

Currently, Tyler Robinson, 23, stands accused of murdering Kirk. A Utah judge has allowed the case to proceed, citing sufficient evidence on multiple charges, including aggravated murder and witness tampering.

Goebel Farms identified as a family business rather than a political entity, expressing a desire for honest disagreements and respectful community interactions.
