Breaking into Pro Wrestling
Professional wrestling is notoriously difficult, with numerous athletes aspiring to rise from obscurity to fame. Dono Hefner, a burgeoning independent wrestler, is eager to establish himself as a prominent figure in the wrestling community, from an unknown contender to a recognized talent.
Organizing ‘Too Over To Care’
Creating a wrestling promotion and orchestrating a successful event presents unique challenges. Hefner, who identifies as the ‘most OverAF independent professional wrestler,’ plans to host the show ‘Too Over To Care’ in Washington, D.C., on February 27, 2027. In an OutKick Dropkick interview, Hefner engaged in strategic rivalry by expressing his readiness to face former WWE wrestler JTG, now Jay Tha Gawd, aiming to attract attention to his event.
Embracing New Challenges
The decision to produce his own wrestling show stems from Hefner’s desire for challenge and growth. He explains, ‘I like to challenge myself most of the time. I like to be under pressure. So, I figured like I’m already good at this wrestling stuff, right? Let’s be honest here. So, I was like, all right, you know what? Let’s just take it up a notch.’ He aims to provide opportunities often hindered by wrestling politics, broadening the stage not only for himself but for other wrestlers.
Facing Obstacles
One major hurdle Hefner faces is deciding who will participate in his event, acknowledging that not everyone can fit on the card. He explains, ‘Telling certain people no because you can’t put you know everyone on a card. That’s really it because once a new show comes around everybody wants to be on it. Everybody wants to be a part of it.’
Prominent Competitors
Hefner’s upcoming event includes notable figures such as the tag team duo Jay Lucas and Terry Yaki of Top Team, and Chulo Montana and Ykies from Sexy & Blessed.
Aspiring for a Dream Match
Expressing his ambitions, Hefner reveals his ideal match would be against independent wrestling icon Joey Janela. He believes such a match could significantly boost his reputation, stating, ‘I feel like me and Joey could really do something and he could really put me over.’
Looking Forward
As preparations continue for ‘Too Over To Care,’ Hefner remains committed to increasing his presence among wrestling fans. With many months ahead, he is focused on making the event a success.
