Nearly 195,000 heated blankets and pads purchased from Amazon.com are subject to a recall following multiple reports of burn injuries, as announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC issued a recall notice, cautioning buyers about the overheating of internal heating elements, which pose risks of fire and burns.
The manufacturer, JKMax, acknowledged 577 incidents involving blankets that emitted smoke, melted, or burned as a result of overheating. According to the CPSC filing, 53 of these incidents resulted in burn injuries. The recall includes blankets sold on Amazon.com, characterized by polyester fabric available in various colors such as blue, gray, brown, and red.
The affected blanket models include JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B, and JKMAX-8490B. Customers can identify these models by checking the remote control used to regulate heat levels and the white label on the product packaging. Sales of the recalled items occurred online from September 2022 to July 2026.
Consumers are strongly advised to cease using these products immediately. For safety, they should contact JKMax to request a full refund.
The recall is registered under number 26-778. Attention to this matter is crucial to prevent further incidents and protect consumer safety.
