Veteran tight end George Kittle faced a challenging setback with a torn Achilles injury during the San Francisco 49ers’ wild card victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on January 11. Fast forward a few months, and Kittle is now fully cleared to play as the 49ers prepare for their Week 1 encounter against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia.
Kittle had been practicing with limitations throughout the week. However, he has been removed from the injury report, indicating his readiness for the game. Joining him on the field will be Nick Bosa, who is recovering from a knee issue. This season-opening contest is set to unfold on Thursday night.
Discussing his recovery, Kittle expressed confidence in his physical condition. Earlier this week, he told 49ersWebZone, “Body feels really good. It’s bounced back really good. I’d say I’ve really taken a step back towards playing. But besides that, don’t know what the workload is.”
Entering his tenth season as a key player for the 49ers, Kittle has consistently delivered impressive performances. In the previous season, through 11 regular-season games, he achieved 57 catches accumulating 628 yards and scoring seven touchdowns.
The upcoming Thursday night game between the 49ers and Rams is scheduled to kick off at 8:35 p.m. ET.
