FTR Announces Break from AEW Wrestling

Pro wrestling tag team FTR, comprising Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, announced they will take a prolonged break from All Elite Wrestling (AEW). This decision follows their loss to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an ‘I Quit’ match at the Double or Nothing event, which also resulted in FTR relinquishing the AEW World Tag Team Championship. It marked the end of their third championship reign. Since then, FTR has not appeared on AEW programming.

FTR’s Announcement

On Instagram, Harwood shared a detailed message about their decision to step away. He highlighted that since 2014, they have been fully committed to wrestling, with minimal breaks. Harwood reflected on the physical and mental exhaustion they have endured, mentioning injuries such as hematomas, a bicep tear, and a labrum tear. He emphasized the need for time away to rest and spend time with their families, uncertain of their future return.

Upcoming Commitments

Despite taking a break from AEW, FTR plans to wrestle against Ken Anderson and Doc Gallows in Kentucky at the end of August. Harwood noted that until then, he would be on a vacation in Hawaii.

Future Aspirations

In a separate interview, Wheeler expressed interest in competing in New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s (NJPW) World Tag League. The duo aims to participate in the event as part of their career goals. Wheeler humorously remarked on the possibility of leaving mid-match if circumstances arise, but emphasized their desire to fulfill this goal before potentially ending their careers.

Over the years, Harwood and Wheeler have established themselves as one of the top tag teams in professional wrestling, with multiple AEW tag team titles to their credit.
