A man was found dead after drowning in Fort Lauderdale early Sunday morning, June 7, 2026. The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. when authorities received a call about a possible drowning near the 200 block of Southwest Second Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing the man enter the water.
Local police collaborated with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit to locate the individual. Once found, Fire Rescue transported him to Broward Health Medical Center. Unfortunately, the man passed away.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
