Federal Standards Altered Amidst Geo Group’s Influence

On Monday, new federal standards were announced, which suggest changes that may favor Geo Group’s legal defense. Geo Group is a major contractor for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Photographic evidence, taken last week, shows the silhouettes of detainees at the Delaney Hall immigration detention center in Newark. The image, captured by Michael M. Santiago, highlights the conditions within the facility.

A source familiar with the situation revealed that, during the revision of federal standards regulating immigration detention centers, one of ICE’s primary contractors, Geo Group, privately requested amendments that might benefit its operations.
