Fatal Shooting of Woman on Chicago’s South Side

A tragic incident unfolded on the city’s South Side, where a 70-year-old woman was shot to death following a dispute that escalated into violence. This event took place inside a residence on the 1900 block of West 83rd Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood at approximately 3:20 p.m.

The woman was with a 63-year-old man when a verbal disagreement erupted, as reported by Chicago police. The confrontation intensified, leading the man to draw a firearm and shoot the woman.

The victim received gunshots to her neck and chest and was declared dead at the scene. Her identity has not been disclosed yet. Authorities have scheduled an autopsy for Thursday.

Police recovered a firearm at the location. The man was arrested, and charges are still under consideration, with investigations ongoing. It is suspected that the motive behind the shooting was domestic.
