Fatal Incident on Goliath Roller Coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia

A tragic incident at Six Flags Over Georgia resulted in one person’s death following an event involving the Goliath roller coaster on Monday. Police confirmed the fatalities to Fox News Digital.

“We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today,” a Six Flags representative stated. “Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest’s family, friends, and loved ones. We are also providing support to the guests and team members affected.”

The Cobb County Police Department reported that the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on Monday. They verified that one individual had died and that several others sustained injuries. The police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances of the event.

Witnesses on the scene described a shocking event where a man fell from the ride. One eyewitness recounted to WXIA that the fallen man appeared in their souvenir photograph. “He was in our pictures,” the witness shared. “He fell and hit the car three different times.”

The 200-foot-tall hypercoaster halted, leaving riders stranded on the track until emergency responders evacuated them. Video footage displayed individuals exiting the ride and descending a high staircase.

“The park team and local authorities responded immediately, and we are cooperating fully with local authorities as they complete their investigation,” Six Flags continued. “Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time.”

The reason for the stoppage remains unclear, and there is no current information on when the ride will resume operation.

The Goliath coaster, according to Six Flags’ website, reaches speeds of up to 70 mph with a maximum elevation of 200 feet. It has a 170-foot initial drop, a secondary 175-foot drop, a 540-degree spiral, and forces reaching up to 4 Gs.

Fox News Digital has contacted both Six Flags Over Georgia and the Cobb County Police Department for further comments.
