In Tennessee, Anthony Darrell Hines faces execution for the 1985 murder of Catherine Jean Jenkins. Hines, sentenced to death in 1986, won an appeal for a new sentencing hearing and was again sentenced to die in 1989. Alabama’s Execution Plans
Alabama is set to execute Jeremy Williams for the 2021 rape and murder of 5-year-old Kamarie Holland. Williams pleaded guilty and chose not to pursue any appeals, insisting his sentence be carried out. His crimes shocked the community, including filming the attack and abusing the child. Alabama’s planned execution of Williams marks its first of the year, following a legal obstacle with nitrogen gas execution dismissed as unconstitutional.
Oklahoma’s Execution Details
Carlos Cuesta-Rodriguez is scheduled to be executed in Oklahoma, having killed his girlfriend in 2003. He expressed regrets over the murder but did not ask for clemency from the board, which denied his attorneys’ plea for life imprisonment due to his troubled history and mental health issues. The execution would be the third in Oklahoma this year.
“He made her suffer because she dared to live beyond his control,” remarked Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
