Dominik Mysterio promised to retain the AAA Mega Championship after a fierce battle against El Grande Americano at Triplemania 34 in Mexico City. The match was anticipated to be intense, especially after AAA broadcaster Corey Graves announced that there would be no disqualifications, allowing the use of chairs, belts, and other items.
In the match’s early moments, Mysterio used weapons, including a chair and Dorian Roldán’s belt, against El Grande Americano. Although El Grande Americano gained control at times, interference from Mysterio’s associate, JD McDonagh, complicated the situation.
Support for El Grande Americano came from Los Americanos, who confronted McDonagh. The chaos intensified as Bravo Americano executed a daring leap from the top of a video board, targeting Rayo, McDonagh, and AAA officials attempting to separate the factions.
Despite these efforts, Mysterio continued to mount his offense. Meanwhile, Omos, earlier victorious in Copa Bardahl, entered the fray to bolster Mysterio. El Grande Americano skillfully evaded Omos’s attack outside the ring and countered Mysterio with two headbutts.
In a crucial moment, Liv Morgan emerged to destabilize El Grande Americano. Despite Mysterio’s attempts, including a 619 and a frog splash, both he and Morgan were astonished when their efforts did not secure victory.
As the match progressed, El Grande Americano inadvertently struck the referee with a headbutt. Mysterio responded by using the Mega Championship belt against his opponent. However, his subsequent high-risk move was thwarted by El Grande Americano, who retaliated with another headbutt and prepared to cover him.
Without an official present to count, Rey Mysterio, the AAA general manager, himself intervened. Wearing a neck brace due to injuries from Night 1, he officiated the pin for El Grande Americano, confirming his son’s defeat.
El Grande Americano’s victory marked a significant achievement, having navigated betrayal by Dominik Mysterio and overcome challenges posed by The Judgment Day and allies like Omos. His perseverance and determination led him to claim the AAA Mega Championship.
