Disney World Fans React to Changes in Park Furnishings

Disney World is undergoing changes that have captured the attention of dedicated park-goers. This summer, new trash cans are being introduced across Walt Disney World Resort’s multiple locations, including its four theme parks and two water parks.

The flat-topped trash cans have grown in popularity over the years. These receptacles serve not only their primary purpose but have also become makeshift tables for visitors in need. Their uniqueness has even inspired their own range of merchandise.

For some fans, these trash cans hold sentimental value. In late 2021, Skip Sher and a group of Disney enthusiasts converged for a casual meet-up at Epcot, one of Disney World’s theme parks in Orlando, Florida. They chose a trash can outside a pub in the United Kingdom Pavilion as a convenient meeting spot. This location became a memorable part of their visit, sparking an intention to return there in the future.

As the resort modernizes its infrastructure, the introduction of these new trash cans marks a shift away from what has become a beloved fixture for many. While practical changes are often essential, they can sometimes evoke nostalgia among devoted fans who cherish the unique aspects of the Disney experience.
