Disappearance Case Inadvertently Leads to Archaeological Find

Earlier this month, Alec Wysopal, a livestreamer, was conducting a search in Tucson, Arizona. He was looking for clues related to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. Ms. Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, the ‘Today’ show host, vanished in February, causing widespread attention.

On his routine check of Tucson’s trails, Mr. Wysopal noticed something intriguing. Equipped with gaiters to fend off rattlesnakes and his cellphone to document his findings, he approached a dry riverbank near Ms. Guthrie’s residence. Live on his YouTube channel, Mr. Wysopal exclaimed to his viewers, ‘Oh, what is that? That’s a bone.’

Mr. Wysopal’s discovery prompted him to immediately call 911. The revelation quickly spread across social media, stirring hope among true crime enthusiasts who believed there was a breakthrough in the case of the missing 84-year-old.

Authorities arrived and clarified the situation. A Tucson police spokesperson stated, ‘This will be a prehistoric anthropological investigation. This is not a criminal investigation.’ The find, while not related to the disappearance, has become an archaeological point of interest for experts.
