Demonstrations Across the U.S. Support Cornell Student’s Allegations

On the evening of October 8, hundreds of individuals gathered at the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. The event was part of a nationwide series of demonstrations supporting a Cornell University student who claims she was gang-raped in 2024.

The Thursday gathering on the National Mall was one of many acts of solidarity, including rallies, vigils, and walkouts, held across the country that day. These events followed a lawsuit filed last month by the student, identified as ‘Jane Doe,’ against Cornell University and seven students alleged to have been involved in the incident.

Organizers united these efforts under the initiative #StopSexualViolence: From the Frat House to the White House. The D.C. event concluded with participants marching to the executive mansion, expressing a unified demand for addressing sexual violence urgently and effectively.
