After a disappointing home loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Thursday Night Football,” frustration was evident among Dallas Cowboys fans and those connected to the team. During the postgame walk to the locker room, a stadium employee expressed his dissatisfaction to Dak Prescott, describing the team’s performance as “embarrassing.” This moment gained attention after a video of the interaction went viral.
In his postgame comments, Prescott addressed the incident. “When he said it, I just looked at him. He looked away, and as I turned my head back, he said something else. As a person, feel free to speak your mind; just don’t shy away from the reaction you’re going to get,” Prescott said during his media session.
The Cowboys’ quarterback addressed his critics: “If you say it’s embarrassing, say it. If you say it to me, say it to me. Don’t back down.” Prescott expressed his displeasure with the situation being discussed.
Many viewed the game as a disappointing night for the Cowboys, who fell to an opposing team fielding undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels in his second NFL start. Daniels performed admirably, recording 189 yards and a touchdown pass. He completed 76% of his passes with a passer rating of 110.
Conversely, Prescott faced immense pressure from the Buccaneers’ defense. This forced hurried throws that often missed their targets or resulted in turnovers. Prescott completed 24 of his 42 passes for 316 yards, including one touchdown to George Pickens. He also threw two interceptions as the Cowboys lost 24-16, which brought their record to 2-3.
The Dallas running game struggled as well, accumulating only 50 rushing yards. Javonte Williams and the Cowboys’ backs found no opportunities on the ground. CeeDee Lamb missed part of the game with a quad injury reported during the Amazon Prime broadcast.
Despite the setbacks, the Cowboys are not out of the NFC East race. Nevertheless, there’s a clear need for improvement. Their upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” on October 18 gives them a chance to even their record.
