Craig Carton Criticizes Pablo Torre for Linking Tim Tebow to Alleged Business Practices

Craig Carton recently criticized investigative journalist Pablo Torre over a report that connected Tim Tebow with Life Surge, a Christian-oriented organization accused of pressuring individuals into investing large sums without guaranteed returns. Torre’s report suggested Tebow was used as a figurehead in a potentially exploitative business model. Carton noted Torre’s skill as a reporter but questioned the fairness of linking Tebow to alleged misconduct without solid evidence of his awareness.

Carton stated, “Tim Tebow doesn’t deserve to be dragged into this unless you got him nailed. And if you don’t have him nailed to the cross on this story, you have defamed him. And if I’m Tim Tebow, I find that to be actionable. I find that to be regrettable.” These remarks were made on OutKick’s “The Craig Carton Show.” Tebow, in response to the allegations, announced he is pausing his association with Life Surge. He emphasized the seriousness of the claims and noted that his team is conducting an investigation to understand the facts before making further decisions.

“I think the allegations are extremely, extremely serious, and it’s something that we take very serious,” said Tebow to The Gainesville Sun. “And so, for us, we’re having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship until we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more.”

Life Surge hosted Tebow at 20 events between 2024 and 2025, with more planned for 2026, according to Mother Jones, who collaborated with Torre. Carton did not take issue with Torre’s investigative efforts. However, he criticized the use of Tebow’s name as a tool to garner attention for the story, arguing that it could harm Tebow’s reputation and career.

You’re using Tim Tebow’s name and popularity to further your own career. You’re using Tim Tebow to get attention for your story. Whether that story is accurate or not, I’ll take the leap of faith that you’ve reported as an allegation about this Life Surge company that it might even be accurate and factual, and we need to get involved. We need to get district attorneys involved and do a thorough, real investigation to see if they’re committing some type of predatory fraud against honest, God-fearing, blue-collar people who might be losing their life savings under the guise of religion.

Carton firmly positioned himself against dragging Tebow into allegations without firm evidence, highlighting Tebow’s dedication to serving others. He urged Torre to present conclusive evidence if claims are made, warning of the consequences of unjust reputational damage.

Carton concluded by asserting the importance of responsible journalism when implicating figures in potentially damaging reports.
