Piers Morgan engaged in a heated discussion with Cornell University student Austin Franco after Franco stated he would not work for a Jewish individual. Franco made this comment following his refusal of an internship with New York City startup VryfID, co-founded by Gabe and Aiden Einhorn, citing their Jewish background.
Franco came under scrutiny, refusing to apologize on Morgan’s show, “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Morgan expressed disbelief at Franco’s refusal to retract his statement despite facing backlash. Morgan stated, “You don’t want to be around any Jewish people. That’s 15 million Jewish people. So, therefore, you are de-facto antisemitic.” Franco argued he was not antisemitic, claiming past negative experiences influenced his views.
Morgan questioned Franco’s education and upbringing, expressing disbelief at Franco’s lack of remorse for his comment. “You don’t give a f— do you?” Morgan said, challenging Franco on his attitudes.
In the discussion, Franco criticized Israel, calling it a “genocidal country” and used this view to justify his stance. Morgan countered that Franco did not oppose working with Americans despite political disagreements.
After the initial revelation of Franco’s remarks, Cornell University condemned antisemitism and initiated an investigation. However, Franco mentioned he faced no repercussions beyond being informed by the university.
Undercover footage from Accuracy in Media revealed Franco’s claim of no consequences from Cornell. The university’s statement, made by President Michael I. Kotlikoff, denounced Franco’s comments but did not elaborate on further actions due to privacy laws.
Following his appearance on Morgan’s show, Franco stated his parents decided to evict him by August 1. Franco mentioned needing support and advice, acknowledging the difficult path ahead. “This is the path I chose. I do not regret anything I have done,” he wrote.
