Chrissy Metz recently spoke about dealing with criticism regarding her weight loss. In an appearance on “The Tamsen Show” podcast, the 45-year-old actress addressed her decision to start a GLP-1 medication and her response to critical comments about her body.
Metz acknowledged the persistent negative remarks she receives, saying, “I don’t know when people will stop doing that. I don’t think it ever will happen.” She shared an incident where a distant relative, who also struggles with weight, applauded her effort to “take control” of her weight, highlighting the ongoing nature of these conversations.
The other comments are a little… it’s wild to me,” she stated, referring to the more critical online opinions.
Metz questioned whether such comments would be made in person. “It’s interesting what people say cause would they ever say it to you on the street? Never,” she remarked. She noted that criticisms range from her appearance to her fashion choices. “It doesn’t matter what you do,” she concluded. “But no matter what you do, somebody’s going to have something to say.”
Despite the negativity, Metz, who is currently starring in the Broadway musical “& Juliet,” considers pursuing her passions as a form of defiance against critics. She also spoke about her initial skepticism towards GLP-1 medications during an appearance on “Today.”
Her outlook on this treatment shifted after her father’s tragic passing due to obesity-related complications. Metz revealed that the medication helped reduce the overwhelming focus on food in her mind, which she described as notably intrusive.
Oh, there’s like something chemically off and metabolically off and hereditary, you know, issues
Metz expressed relief in finding help through medication, stating her well-being has improved since beginning the treatment. She is now partnering with Ro, a telehealth company providing solutions for weight management and other health concerns.
