Carville and Larkin Exchange Barbs Amid Florida Primary

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville has responded to recent criticism from Oliver Larkin, a socialist candidate in Florida’s 25th Congressional District. Larkin, who is running against a mainstream Democratic congressman in the Tuesday primary elections, suggested over the weekend that Carville might need to step aside for new ideas. Carville, known for his key role in former President Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign, dismissed the comment.

Referring to Larkin, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Carville remarked that Larkin shares a common trait with other DSA members: he talks too much. Carville called them “a pack of fools” during an interview on Fox News’ “Jesse Waters Primetime.” The strategist has consistently criticized the success of far-left candidates in recent primary elections.

Oliver Larkin, a veteran of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, is the sole DSA-endorsed candidate running in a competitive swing district. He is challenging Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a moderate Democrat, in the newly set 25th District.

Moskowitz has the backing of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and indirect support from AIPAC, a pro-Israel political group. Larkin, however, garners support from notable far-left figures, including political streamer Hasan Piker. Larkin asserts that democratic socialism can succeed in any district nationwide and expresses pride in being a DSA candidate.

Larkin mentioned on the campaign trail that mainstream Democratic strategists, like Carville, are witnessing a decrease in their influence and a rise of new leadership within the party. In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” he warned against excluding people from the Democratic Party, as their votes will be needed in the future elections.
