Patrick Mahomes recently completed a challenging season, ending with a season-ending ACL injury during the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2025 campaign. This marked the toughest season of his NFL career.
The Chiefs closed the year with a 6-11 record, failing to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
Despite these setbacks, Mahomes’ standing among his NFL peers remains strong. He was declared the 18th best player in the 2026 NFL Top 100 rankings on Tuesday, an honor voted on by the league’s active players.
Following the announcement, the Chiefs expressed their pride in Mahomes’ ranking on social media. “The no. 18 spot belongs to no. 15,” they posted on X.
Before his injury in Week 15, Mahomes managed to complete 62.7% of his passes for a total of 3,587 yards. He recorded 22 touchdowns alongside 11 interceptions. He also achieved a career-high 422 rushing yards during his time on the field.
Mahomes’ recovery is progressing ahead of schedule. He is expected to return for the Chiefs’ season-opening “Monday Night Football” game against the Denver Broncos on September 14.
