Bret Michaels Takes Hiatus from Touring for Recovery

Bret Michaels is pausing his tour schedule as doctors acknowledge the need for additional time to recuperate from recent medical procedures. His physicians reviewed his condition following his performance at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia. They suggested he should refrain from touring for the upcoming months.

“We will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being,” Michaels’ doctors, Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel, stated.

The statement emphasized the necessity for Michaels to rest, particularly with summer’s heat and humidity impacting his blood sugar levels.

Michaels will miss the rest of his scheduled 2026 events. His appearances at The Mountain Music Festival and other shows are now canceled. Michaels Entertainment Group expressed apologies for this change, noting their anticipation for this year’s performances. They look forward to his eventual return, aiming for him to be healthy and ready to perform.

In July, Michaels addressed his recovery journey on Facebook. He shared details about a procedure to remove a stubborn kidney stone, expressing gratitude for the healthcare workers who assisted him.

“On this #WisdomWednesday, the first thing I learned is complete gratitude for the frontline workers, doctors, and nurses,” he wrote.

Despite intense pain, Michaels continued to perform, including concerts in Charleston, Grantville, and a special event at Fairchild AFB for veterans and military families. Eventually, he required hospitalization as the pain became unmanageable.

His post-operation recovery is now complete. Michaels is eager to reach full health and perform for his fans again.

Michaels has openly discussed health challenges, including managing Type 1 diabetes diagnosed during childhood. His advocacy for diabetes awareness persists alongside his music career, which encompasses leading Poison, reality TV appearances, and a solo career.

In 2010, Michaels endured a brain hemorrhage and a procedure for a heart condition. He credits his resilience in recovery to his fan support and determination to continue performing.
