Bella Thorne’s Response to Blackmail Led to FBI Involvement

Bella Thorne took a decisive step in 2019 when she confronted an alleged blackmailer by releasing her own nude photos. The choice to publicize the images herself was an effort to counteract the blackmail threat from a hacker intent on exploiting her.

During an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Thorne explained her decision. “I just did an honest Twitter post,” she stated, expressing her resolve to take control of the situation. Despite her proactive approach, she faced a backlash of victim-blaming accusations that deeply affected her emotionally.

Thorne said the most challenging aspect was hearing accusations that questioned her motives. Many suggested she released the photos because she wanted her private parts to be seen. “That, like, really, really broke me,” she admitted.

The ordeal reached another level when the FBI contacted Thorne. The agency noticed the online activity and sought her cooperation in their investigation. “They came over to my house,” she recounted, adding that her interactions with the FBI lasted over a year.

Thorne provided the FBI with crucial information, including screenshots of her communications with the alleged blackmailer. These details helped the authorities identify the suspect. “If I had not posted those screenshots, they wouldn’t have caught him,” Thorne explained, highlighting the importance of her collaboration in building the case.

The information she shared included writing styles and patterns that matched the suspect’s known methods of operation. This evidence was instrumental for the investigators to confirm the suspect’s identity.
