Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View,” expressed disagreement with Hunter Biden’s remarks about former President Donald Trump during a podcast episode on Monday. Hunter Biden accused Trump of being a dictator in a conversation on Navarro’s podcast, “Bleep! with Ana Navarro.” According to Biden, the United States has “already” lost its democracy under Trump, regardless of midterm election outcomes.
During the second part of their interview, Biden claimed, “He is a dictator in no uncertain terms. Everybody understands this. He has broken the system. It is gone. It is completely broken.” Nevertheless, Navarro stopped short of aligning with Biden’s view, suggesting Trump “would like” to be a dictator.
Biden further criticized Trump by highlighting his attempts to jail journalists and confirming Trump’s former personal attorney, Todd Blanche, as Attorney General. Hunter also mentioned an incident involving journalist Don Lemon, who faced federal civil rights charges after covering an anti-ICE protest.
“He goes on Air Force One, and he gets a question that he doesn’t like, and he looks at a veteran woman reporter and tells her to ‘Be quiet, piggy,’ and no one says anything,”Biden added. “We have lost our democracy at this point.”
Although Navarro sympathized with Biden’s concerns, she refrained from labeling Trump as a dictator. She recalled her own experience fleeing the Sandinistas in 1980 and voiced hope in American courts and free press.
“I fled dictatorship,” Navarro shared, mentioning the experiences of other exiles in Miami. “I think he definitely would like to be a dictator, but I still have hope in some of the courts, and we still have elections despite threats against the free press.”
Navarro noted a lack of congressional oversight from Republicans as a factor in Trump’s rising power. She questioned whether Democrats regaining control could change this dynamic.
Navarro’s podcast comments contrast her previous remarks warning against Trump’s dictatorial tendencies. In her 2024 Democratic National Convention speech, Navarro compared Trump to various communist dictators for attacking the press and refusing to accept elections.
While the White House dismissed Hunter Biden’s claims, Navarro’s views on Trump remain a topic of discussion. Fox News Digital reached out to Navarro for comment without immediate response. A spokesperson, Davis Ingle, mocked Hunter Biden’s allegations in a statement.
