An Amazon cargo plane experienced an incident at Miami International Airport, resulting in a massive emergency response. The plane overran the runway, collided with multiple vehicles, and caught fire while landing at approximately 2 p.m. local time. This information was provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and airport officials.
The Prime Air flight 7598 overran the diagonal runway and is currently disabled at the northwest end of the airport. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported that over 60 fire units are on the scene to handle the situation involving multiple patients. The airplane caught fire, and firefighters are working to extinguish the flames and assess the affected individuals.
A representative from Amazon confirmed that an Amazon Air plane operated by 21 Air encountered an incident while attempting to land. Amazon is collaborating with local authorities to gather details, with the priority being the safety and care of everyone involved.
The FAA specified that the involved aircraft is a Boeing 767-300, which had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Emergency services received a call at approximately 1:55 p.m. The FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center announced a ground stop at Miami International Airport, effective until at least 4:30 p.m. As of 3:00 p.m., all runways and taxiways at the airport are closed. The FAA plans to investigate the incident.
