Ali Larter Enjoys Simpler Life in Idaho Away from Los Angeles

Ali Larter, known for her role in ‘Landman,’ describes her summers in Idaho as much simpler than her previous life in Los Angeles. At the Newport Beach TV Fest, Larter shared with Fox News Digital how her lifestyle has changed since moving to Sun Valley, Idaho, in 2020.

Larter explained, “It’s totally different, so we can’t really get our kids to hike anymore, they don’t want to do that. But I can get them to take a bike ride and then do like a little cold plunge in the river.” She further added that her family enjoys outdoor activities such as barbecuing and playing with their dogs. Her daughter often plays volleyball, and they enjoy trips to Leroy’s for ice cream.

The actress noted that with longer days, having the children out of school has been beautiful, allowing them to spend quality time together as a family. Larter and her husband, Hayes MacArthur, share two children: Teddy, 15, and Vivienne, 11.

Reflecting on their move to Idaho during the COVID-19 lockdown, Larter recounted, “We went for two months thinking that the kids’ schools would be reopened in California, and they weren’t.” The availability of in-person schooling in Idaho for their daughter turned out to be a significant factor in their decision to stay.

They met wonderful families organically through their children’s school and spent a considerable amount of time skiing and bonding as a family. After living in Idaho, they returned to Los Angeles for the summer, where they recognized the demands on actors living in the city. Larter noted the frequent auditions and numerous expected appearances in Los Angeles.

Despite her affection for Los Angeles, Larter sought a more family-oriented lifestyle. “We just didn’t want to do that. We wanna be with our children,” Larter expressed, explaining their decision to fully embrace life in Idaho.

During the Newport Beach TV Fest, which celebrated ‘Landman,’ Larter discussed her character Angela, whom she described as a “wildcat.” Larter expressed a wish to channel this character more in her daily life.
