Alan Ritchson Addressed for Political Remarks

Alan Ritchson, star of the series “Reacher,” recently revealed that studios advise him against speaking on political matters. During a panel at Fan Expo Canada, Ritchson humorously shared how production studios frequently request him to refrain from making public political statements.

“You know how many phone calls I get from studios like, ‘Would you shut up, please? Stop talking in public,’” Ritchson remarked. Despite joking about creating chaos, he emphasized his desire for more structure, choosing not to elaborate further.« Ritchson added, “I’m not going to get into it. You don’t want to see my rants starring politicians everywhere.”

The actor further claimed that Amazon Prime Video abandoned a “Reacher” storyline involving White supremacists, suspecting political motives behind this decision. On the social media platform Threads, he responded to a fan disappointed by the omission of a particular book’s adaptation in the series. Ritchson hinted that the change was linked to political influences, mentioning, “My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.”

Ritchson, who identifies as a Christian, has openly criticized conservative Christians for supporting former President Donald Trump. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter in April 2024, he expressed disbelief over the support for Trump, stating, “Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child, and it’s unreal.” He later described encounters of hostility for sharing his views, advocating for generosity as a solution to violence.

Christian Toto from Hollywood in Toto commented on Ritchson’s behavior, suggesting the actor might be damaging his own career prospects. Toto noted, “The actor’s political rants are even worse than what Robert De Niro says on a given day. It’s hysterical blather, and his ‘Reacher’ fans are noticing.” Toto posed questions about the wisdom of ignoring studio advice and the potential consequences of political rhetoric on a public platform.
