Adam Copeland, known for his legendary wrestling career, is set to compete at Arena México for the first time. This Wednesday, Copeland will participate in an eight-man tag team match during All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Grand Slam: Mexico event. His team includes his tag partner Christian Cage, the AEW tag team champions, along with Matt and Nick Jackson. They will face off against Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia, Pac, and Wheeler Yuta.
Reflecting on his upcoming performance at the iconic venue, Copeland shared his excitement on Instagram. He stated, “Tonight I get to perform for the first time in The Wrestling Cathedral, Arena Mexico. The last time I had a match in Mexico was 2008. Mexico, we got some catching up to do! I love Lucha Libre. Everything about it. The masks, the mystique, the pageantry. Can’t wait to get out there. See ya soon Mexico, bring your voices.”
One of Copeland’s aspirations was to perform in specific venues. His list included Arena México, Wembley Stadium in London, Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, and the Tokyo Dome in Japan. He is expected to fulfill his goal of competing at Wembley Stadium when AEW hosts its primary pay-per-view event, All In, at the venue later this month.
Recently, Copeland and Cage secured the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Double or Nothing against FTR in an I Quit match. They have retained their titles and are anticipated to walk into Wembley Stadium as champions if no formidable challengers arise.
