Aaron Judge Makes Triumphant Return to Yankees

Aaron Judge is set to rejoin the New York Yankees lineup after a long stint on the injured list. He will be available for the series against the Colorado Rockies at Yankee Stadium. Judge has been out since late May due to a stress fracture in his right rib.

On Monday, Judge hit live pitching and showcased his readiness by hitting the ball across the field. The Yankees decided against sending him for a minor-league rehab stint. Manager Aaron Boone highlighted the need for creative methods to boost Judge’s fitness as they aim for a strong postseason performance. This strategy might involve easing him into games by limiting his innings initially.

After being cleared to resume baseball activities last month, Judge began with basic hitting exercises. He soon progressed to full batting practice during the Yankees’ West Coast trip, even taking swings before games. His preparation included using a high-velocity pitching machine and practicing fielding and baserunning drills to prepare for his duties in right field.

The return of Judge, a three-time MVP outfielder, is vital for the Yankees’ aspiration to reach the World Series. The team finds itself four games behind the AL East leaders, the Tampa Bay Rays. However, they lead the Wild Card race by nine games with a current record of 81-62. Chasing the Rays for the top division spot remains crucial, as it likely means securing the top playoff spot in the American League.

Before his injury, Judge was batting .248/.375/.533 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs. The team posted a 45-38 record during his absence. While the Yankees struggled offensively without him, their pitchers excelled. As they make their final regular-season push, Judge’s return is timely, providing a boost to complement their pitching strength.
