CNN host Jake Tapper, who moderated the contentious 2024 debate affecting then-President Joe Biden’s campaign, recently commented in a video about former First Lady Jill Biden’s demeanor post-debate. Tapper noted that Jill Biden’s behavior did not reflect any distress over her husband’s condition.
According to Tapper, Jill Biden, in a new interview, expressed fear that her husband might have experienced a stroke during the debate. This revelation sparked significant criticism from across the political spectrum. Tapper stated, “I was one of the two moderators at the debate, and afterward, she and the president walked over to the table. They didn’t behave as if anything significant had occurred. They made polite chitchat, and she certainly didn’t act concerned about her husband’s health.”
Tapper co-moderated the June 2024 debate alongside CNN’s Dana Bash. The first lady’s concerns about Joe Biden’s health have faced scrutiny from both Democrats and Republicans. In a CNN video, Tapper highlighted, “That’s the response from many Democrats to Jill Biden admitting that her husband’s performance in June 2024 worried her to the point of fearing a stroke.”
During the debate in Atlanta, Georgia, both Joe and Jill Biden spoke with CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. Despite her later claims of concern, Jill Biden seemed untroubled, attending the debate’s after-party and praising her husband publicly.
When CBS inquired about the debate night, Jill Biden admitted feeling fear upon watching her husband, whose performance caused alarm within his party. However, that evening, she appeared supportive and encouraging of her husband. Jill Biden accompanied him to a local Waffle House post-debate and offered words of praise, highlighting his performance.
CNN host Abby Phillip criticized the Democratic Party for what she perceived as a deceptiveness behind the scenes. Phillip commented on her show, “We now see some version of truth from her, and a conversation about this dishonesty needs to happen. The autopsy by the Democrats didn’t explore this, but it should.”
