An Iranian state news channel has issued a warning to the United States regarding potential risks before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This caution comes after the U.S. resumed military actions targeting Iran.
Nour News, affiliated with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, cautioned, “If the USA bets on controlling oil and reducing gas prices before the World Football Championship, they should realize that combining military pressure with negotiations with Iran is a significant risk.” The outlet further noted that any mistake could cast Trump into the role of a poor decision symbol, creating a memory that might haunt every World Cup to come.
These comments follow renewed U.S. military actions against Iran on Monday. The operations focused on missile launch sites and Iranian vessels that were attempting to lay mines. This was confirmed by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). “U.S. forces launched self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to shield our personnel from threats posed by Iranian forces. The targets were missile launch sites and Iranian boats trying to place mines,” Captain Tim Hawkins, a CENTCOM spokesman, informed Newsweek.
This is a developing situation. Additional details will be provided as the story unfolds.
