24-Year-Old Arrested Following Shooting in South Side, Chicago

A 24-year-old man has been apprehended after a shooting incident that left a 52-year-old man in critical condition in Chicago’s New City neighborhood. The altercation occurred on the South Side and was reported by local police.

The incident took place shortly after 2:10 a.m. on the 5100 block of South Emerald Avenue. Authorities explained that an argument between the two men escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, the younger man drew a firearm and shot the older man, hitting him in the head.

The victim was transported to UChicago Medicine, where medical staff listed his condition as critical. Police have confirmed that the 24-year-old suspect has been taken into custody, while charges against him are still pending. Initial investigations suggest the shooting may have been domestic-related.
