Country star Jake Worthington has decided to take a break from his music career. The 30-year-old, who gained fame on “The Voice” in 2014, announced on social media that he is stepping away from country music.
“I live a life as my heroes did, but that life gotten ahold of me,” Worthington shared on Instagram. “I love my family, my friends, and my fans too much to let it take over me. I need to take some time to work on myself for my wife and daughter.” He concluded with a promise to return stronger, saying, “God bless country music.”
Fellow musicians and fans quickly expressed support. Carly Pearce praised Worthington’s courage, while Dierks Bentley showed affection with, “La you bro!” A fan encouraged Worthington to prioritize his well-being, promising ongoing support.
Jake Worthington isn’t alone in taking a break from the music scene. Earlier, country singer Chase Rice also announced a hiatus from touring.
Rice, who has toured for 13 years, shared in January his need to step back. “I’ve lived a dream far greater than I could’ve ever expected,” Rice wrote, but acknowledged feeling exhausted. He admitted not being himself on stage and missing the joy that initially drew him to music.
Rice explained the toll of life on the road led him to this point. “After 13 years, it’s finally beat me up to the point where I need to step away for a while,” he noted. This pause aims to give him more real experiences to inspire his songwriting.
Rice clarified he wouldn’t tour this year, stating, “It’s not really a decision, it’s something I have to do for myself,” highlighting the personal significance of this break.
