Félicien Kabuga, a business magnate accused of funding the 1994 Rwandan genocide against ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus, died on May 16 in The Hague. Authorities believed he was at least 90 years old.
Kabuga spent many years evading capture after being charged with genocide and crimes against humanity. Allegations stated he provided arms to Hutu militias responsible for the massacre of over 800,000 people, primarily ethnic Tutsis, in 1994.
In 2023, Kabuga was photographed in The Hague, Netherlands, where he was under investigation. Despite multiple international efforts to bring him to justice, his case remained one of the most significant involving international crimes.
