Gas prices have surged ahead of the midterm elections, yet many of President Donald Trump’s supporters at rallies in Texas remain loyal. Several attendees believe the country’s future depends on his leadership. “I do experience that costs are high, but I’m in for the long haul and I support everything that he’s been doing,” a supporter shared at Trump’s rally in Lubbock, Texas.
Fox News Digital spoke with Trump supporters at rallies in Lubbock and Corpus Christi. Both cities, integral to the U.S. oil and gas sector, see voters acknowledging economic challenges but maintaining strong support for Trump. For many, concerns about the country’s future and fears of socialism are pressing issues as the election nears.
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline was approximately $4.25, up nearly 40% from roughly $3.05 a year earlier, based on AAA reports. Our country is making a fortune while people have to pay more at the pump,
Trump stated, referring to increased American oil production and his administration’s energy deal with Venezuela. He assured that gas prices are expected to drop significantly.
While in Corpus Christi, Trump highlighted the arrival of the first million barrels of Venezuelan oil, acquired through a deal with Venezuela. The White House explains it will cost U.S. taxpayers nothing and be refined in Texas. This agreement is seen as a move to enhance America’s energy supply, boost domestic jobs, and eventually lower consumer costs. The deal provides the U.S. with majority control over 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves.
Stephen Elsher from Corpus Christi emphasized the economy as his principal concern and believes Republicans are essential for improvement. Without the Republicans in charge, we won’t go that direction,
he remarked. Conversely, the Democratic Party faces internal pressure from its progressive faction, with democratic socialists gaining more influence.
During his Lubbock rally, Trump warned against the radical left Democrat communist
agenda, warning that Democratic policies would elevate taxes, jeopardize Texas oil and gas jobs, and undermine border security. The choice in this election is very simple,
Trump stated, contrasting his economic strategy with the Democrats’ approach.
Several Texas rally attendees expressed concerns beyond economic issues, insisting that socialism threatens the nation. We can’t lose our republic,
voiced Susie, a Corpus Christi supporter. Elizabeth Trigo, attending the Lubbock rally with her daughters, stated that the midterms are about securing future opportunities for the next generation. The most important thing is opportunity again. Trump is on the side of opportunity,
she affirmed.
