Conor Kennedy and Brazilian pop star Giulia Bourguignon Marinho celebrated their wedding in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month. Their festivities took place at several of the city’s iconic locations, including beaches, mountaintops, and historic streets. Images have been widely shared on social media.
Conor Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former Health Secretary in the Trump administration, and Giulia Marinho held a three-day celebration starting on October 8. Events included a blessing at the Christ the Redeemer statue, a ceremony at Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé, and a reception at a historic mansion in Jardim Botânico.
The couple officially married in a private civil ceremony in Los Angeles in March, as reported by Vogue.
“We wanted to celebrate not just the wedding, but also Rio de Janeiro, the city we love,” Marinho said.
Giulia Be, Marinho’s professional name, emphasized the significance of sharing the celebration with family while overlooking the city of Rio.
The religious ceremony took place at Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé in downtown Rio. The building is one of the city’s most important historical sites, dating back to 1808 when it served as the royal chapel and cathedral.
Marinho shared with a Brazilian outlet Globo her intention to highlight Brazil’s charm, stating she wanted Kennedy’s friends and family to experience a memorable time.
Nearby Praça XV de Novembro, a historic square, hosts a Saturday flea market with antiques and records, providing proximity to other significant sites and waterfront views.
The festivities began with a welcome party in Alto da Boa Vista. The following day, guests enjoyed beach volleyball at Ipanema before attending the blessing at Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain. The location offers spectacular views across Rio.
Later, the reception unfolded at Instituto Brando Barbosa in Jardim Botânico. This area is famous for the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, with its diverse plant collection and historical significance.
Conor Kennedy is linked to a notable family history, being the grandson of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and nephew to President John F. Kennedy’s family.
Vogue reported on Marinho’s simple yet elegant Calvin Klein wedding attire, reminiscent of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s style.
RFK Jr. shared family snapshots from the celebration on social media. Images depicted the wedding party beneath Christ the Redeemer and samba dancers next to his wife, Cheryl Hines.
