The Clemson Tigers once again face a weather alert by the National Weather Service as they gear up to host No. 4 Miami this Saturday night. The team has already played three consecutive games this season affected by inclement weather.
Clemson’s season opener experienced nearly a two-hour delay before Lane Kiffin and LSU secured a 51-10 victory against them in Baton Rouge. In their second game, the Tigers faced another delay of almost two hours but managed to defeat Georgia Southern 22-7.
During Week 3, a lightning delay halted the game in the fourth quarter. Clemson emerged stronger after the break, pulling off a comeback win against North Carolina with a 28-20 score.
Fortunately, Week 4 in Berkeley, California, had no weather interruptions. Clemson beat California 24-10, improving their record to 3-1. This week, they will face their first ranked opponent since LSU. Weather conditions could play a significant role in this important match for Dabo Swinney’s team.
Chapel Fowler from The State Newspaper reports that Clemson is closely watching the forecast, which predicts heavy rain and thunderstorms. So far, there are no changes to the game schedule.
“Per Clemson: The school is ‘monitoring potential inclement weather’ for Saturday’s game vs. No. 4 Miami, as heavy rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast,” Fowler posted on X. “There are NO changes to kickoff time as of now (still 7:30 p.m. Saturday), but if anything changes, they’ll announce it.”
The weather delay was disadvantageous for Clemson in Week 1. However, during Week 3, North Carolina struggled with their offense after the lightning delay, ending up with a field goal despite a promising drive.
Both Miami and Clemson are accustomed to playing in rainy conditions, meaning neither team is expected to have a distinct advantage if the weather deteriorates during Saturday night’s game.
