President Trump Praises UK Law Enforcement After Terror Plot Arrests

President Donald Trump attended the Presidents Cup golf tournament at Medinah Country Club on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Medinah, Illinois. During his visit, Trump praised UK law enforcement for apprehending five individuals suspected of planning a terror attack on a US air base.

Speaking to reporters in Chicago, Trump commended the cooperation between the US and the UK in thwarting the plot. He remarked, “The arrest in the UK was fantastic. Working with Britain, it was an amazing job.” The President noted that the federal government was continuing its investigation into the suspects, who were believed to be planning significant harm to the base. “We had them under view for a long time and we got them,” Trump stated.

London’s Metropolitan Police announced on Sunday that the five men were arrested on suspicion of planning an attack at RAF Fairford, a base owned by the UK and operated by the US. This base, located in Gloucestershire, southwest England, has been used by the American military for strikes against Iranian missile sites, as part of an agreement with former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The arrests followed a report of three suspicious vehicles traveling towards the base early Sunday morning, according to the Associated Press. The identities and nationalities of the arrested individuals have not been disclosed.

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham expressed his gratitude to Gloucestershire Police, Counter Terrorism Policing, and the UK armed forces for their efforts in ensuring public safety. “I am especially grateful to those residents who have been asked to leave their homes while precautionary checks are carried out,” Burnham stated on social platform X. He emphasized that public safety remains a top priority and urged the public to avoid speculation as authorities continue their investigation.
