The creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, recently ridiculed President Donald Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America. The satirical remark also targeted Apple Maps and Google Maps for complying with the change.
In a playful statement, the duo announced they were renaming South Park to “SOUTH AMERICA,” highlighting the influence of their parent company, Paramount. This announcement came after their show won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program for its 27th season premiere in 2025.
The statement on X read, “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”
The Emmy-winning episode featured a satirical scene with Trump in bed with Satan, referencing alleged cover-ups involving Jeffrey Epstein.
The episode also humorously addressed Trump’s $1.5 billion settlement with CBS and Paramount Global for streaming “South Park” on Paramount+ in 2025.
Trump’s executive order to change the name of Lake Ontario occurred amid trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada. The order emphasized the United States’ role as a protector of the Great Lakes, stating, “Without the security and investment provided by the United States, this freshwater system would not be open for shipping, recreation, and responsible use to the same extent as it is today.”
Fox Business later verified that Apple Maps and Google Maps updated their services in response to the order. U.S. users now see “Lake America,” while Canadian users continue to see “Lake Ontario.” In other countries, both names are visible.
This renaming follows Trump’s similar executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”
For further updates, Fox News Digital contacted the White House, Apple, Google, and Paramount for comments.
