There is complete uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf, with questions about its existence by 2027. The focus is on where LIV players will compete in the coming year. Jon Rahm is among those uncertain about his future competitions.
Rahm, who has won LIV’s individual title every season since joining in 2024, plans to participate in several DP World Tour events soon. Ahead of the Irish Open, he stated he has “no updates” about LIV’s future since the season ended in August in Indianapolis.
As the LIV circuit lost funding from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) after the 2026 season, CEO Scott O’Neil announced securing a new investor for “LIV 2.0.” However, potential bankruptcy and funding concerns leave LIV’s future unclear.
Speaking to Rahm, BBC Sport inquired about his potential plans. “There’s a lot of things in place,” Rahm remarked. “Time’s going to tell.” When asked about a potential return to the PGA Tour, he suggested, “I still have a contract with LIV 1.0 that I am more than willing to fulfill. Like I said, time will tell.” When probed further, he added, “We’ll see what happens.”
Reports suggest Rahm is owed over nine figures from his LIV Golf contract. The question of compensation arises if LIV files for bankruptcy. Patiently waiting on his contract is all Rahm can do for now.
For Rahm and other players, the pathway back to the PGA Tour remains undefined. While speculation continues, a high-profile player like Rahm might be offered a route back, but this is uncertain pending further developments.
