Stephen A. Smith Discusses Regret Over Voting For Kamala Harris

In a recent podcast, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was questioned by hosts Cari Champion and Jemele Hill about his regrets over voting for former Vice President Kamala Harris. Smith’s comments were challenged, with Champion and Hill suggesting he was targeting Black women.

Smith expressed disappointment over Harris’ statements during an appearance on ABC’s ‘The View’ on October 8, 2024. Harris, when asked what she might do differently than President Joe Biden, said she couldn’t think of anything.

“Because when she went on ‘The View’ and she sat up there and said she couldn’t think of anything that she would do differently, something that Sunny Hostin threw up intentionally as a softball for her to knock out the park. I’m like, when she passed up on that opportunity, this is not a dumb woman. This is a former state attorney general. This is a former senator. This is a former vice president of the United States. She is not dumb. There’s only one reason she said that, because her loyalty to Joe Biden usurped everything else,” Smith stated.

Smith highlighted his earlier support for Harris throughout the election while criticizing Harris for not seizing opportunities to distinguish her platform.

Champion and Hill questioned why Smith felt the need to express regrets about voting for Harris, emphasizing her hard work. Smith clarified his stance, saying, “I supported her leading up to the election. I voted for her. And when it was over, I was honest about how I felt in the moment that that transpired.”

The discussion also touched on Smith’s dispute with Rep. Jasmine Crockett and his experiences in the media. Curtis Houck from the Media Research Center praised Smith’s honesty, suggesting more commentators should admit mistakes.

Smith, in an interview with Sage Steele, reiterated his regrets, believing Harris could compromise. He felt Democrats misunderstood their electoral loss.

Smith discussed how he felt misled by the Democratic nomination process, expressing candid reflections in various interviews.
