First lady Melania Trump returned to the White House Rose Garden with a lighthearted message, igniting laughter. “I heard you missed me. Here I am,” she greeted, alongside President Donald Trump and the crowd.
In front of American flags, she wore a sky-blue Michael Kors shirt and a red Dior skirt, styled with red Manolo Blahnik pumps, complementing the setting’s patriotic theme.
“Look at this incredible race car,” Trump remarked, pointing out the IndyCar with her “BE BEST” and Fostering the Future branding.
The race car, showcased alongside IndyCar drivers, was in the spotlight days before the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C., where cars would race past landmarks like the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument. IndyCar President Doug Boles described the event as a fast-paced spectacle celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
Amidst the speed and spectacle, the event emphasized a cause close to Melania Trump’s heart: supporting America’s youth. She announced the expansion of her Fostering the Future initiative to aid those transitioning out of foster care. Fox Corporation and IndyCar each pledged $1 million to scholarships at Indiana University and Purdue University, expanding the initiative’s reach to 26 institutions.
“The greatest investment America can make is not in technology, infrastructure or capital markets. It’s our children,” Trump stated.
She shared a milestone, noting a scholarship recipient became the program’s first doctor, highlighting their potential to impact society positively. Expressing the enduring value of education, she said:
“Education is the one asset that can never be taken away. It is the foundation upon which confidence is built, opportunities created, and the future is invented.”
