Tim Green Discusses ALS Journey and Legacy of O.J. Brigance

Tim Green, a renowned NFL figure, recently spoke about his challenges with ALS. Brian Kilmeade, co-host of ‘Fox & Friends,’ visited Green’s home in New York. They discussed Green’s diagnosis, his faith, technology that amplifies his voice, his fundraising efforts for ALS research, and his book, ‘Rocket Arm.’

O.J. Brigance, another former NFL linebacker, succumbed to ALS at 56. Brigance, who won a Super Bowl title with the Baltimore Ravens, was a prominent figure in the football world. His career spanned from 1996 to 2002, during which he played for teams like the Dolphins, Rams, and Patriots. Notably, he played in 16 games for the Ravens in the 2000 season, culminating in their Super Bowl victory against the Giants.

“We are devastated by the awful news that we have lost O.J. Brigance,” stated Ravens team owner Steve Bisciotti. “O.J. was a beloved legend, mentor, and man to everyone fortunate to know him. He made the first tackle in the 2000 Super Bowl and became one of our first heroes.”

Brigance was cherished for his engaging personality, connecting with those around him instantly. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 and started a foundation for ALS research. His efforts were recognized with the 2016 NCAA Inspiration Award.

Steve Bisciotti further reflected, “This is a tremendously sad day for Baltimore. O.J. will be remembered for his service to our community, to the Ravens, and to the fight to find a cure for ALS. The Ravens organization extends our deepest condolences to Chanda and the entire Brigance family.”

Brigance played college football for the Rice Owls before going pro. He joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 1996, remaining with them through 1999. He later played for the Rams and Patriots but retired from playing after 2002.

“We have lost a very special soul in O.J. Brigance,” said former Ravens head coach Brian Billick and his wife Kim. “He epitomized grace, class, and compassionate leadership. He will forever remain in our hearts.”
