Dylan Healy’s Journey with Naperville North Soccer

Naperville North senior Dylan Healy fondly remembers winning the Class 3A state championship last season. Not many of his teammates can share that experience now. Healy, committed to Kenyon, is the only returning starter for the team and one of several players with substantial varsity experience.

Healy described the victory as an incredible event. The entire school community participated in various celebrations. The state title was the fourth in the last ten years for the Huskies and their fifth overall. Healy, who has been a starter for three years and a co-captain for two, is focused on preparing the team for new challenges.

He emphasized the importance of hard work to the younger players. Healy puts in continuous effort, starting from his sophomore year with the team. Initially, he was a supportive yet crucial part of an exceptionally talented roster. Now, Healy takes center stage. Coach Konrad observed his transformation into a true leader.

This leadership is crucial as the Huskies team is younger than ever. Healy’s goal is to improve his attacking skills. He assisted one goal and had nine assists last season as a defensive midfielder. Healy aims to be more involved in scoring opportunities, especially working with forward Will Boniface.

Boniface anticipates great teamwork with Healy due to their strong chemistry. He noted Healy’s impressive leadership skills and their close friendship. Healy organizes weekend pickup games to enhance team practice, further highlighting his initiative.

Coach Konrad compares Healy to Sam Hess, a previous graduate known for his work ethic and determination. Healy embodies a similar mindset and is always ready to acknowledge his mistakes, aiming to improve continuously.

Continuing a family tradition, Healy plans to play soccer at Kenyon as his parents did at West Florida. Alongside his athletic ambitions, Healy, who holds a 4.19 GPA, aspires to venture into investment banking. He finds Kenyon appealing, especially with its Chicago connections and aesthetic, reminiscent of Hogwarts, as his coach humorously pointed out.

Before transitioning to college, Healy hopes to add another memorable moment to his high school career. His extensive experience with the team and league provides valuable guidance for the newer team members.
