Paris explained that her father was intentional about their upbringing, ensuring they completed homework and chores before participating in weekend activities. These activities included visiting animals, enjoying amusement parks, or watching movies. She emphasized the importance of these rules during her appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast with Alexandra Cooper.
If you’re good, and you do your chores, and you do your homework, and you do the things that you’re supposed to do. Then on the weekends you can go see some animals, and you can go ride some rides, and you can go to the movies.
Michael Jackson made sure his children understood that attractions at his famed Neverland Ranch were not meant for their personal enjoyment but were instead for underprivileged and terminally ill children who could not visit places like Disneyland.

The family frequently relocated, never staying more than a year in one place. Regardless of location, the rules about completing responsibilities first remained consistent. Whether they were in Las Vegas or Virginia, weekend outings like visiting Circus Circus or Chuck E. Cheese were contingent on good behavior and fulfilled duties.
Television was also restricted until obligations were completed, with an allowance for watching film for study purposes, albeit without sound.
