Tyrese Haliburton is anticipating his comeback to the court following his absence last season due to a torn right Achilles tendon during the 2025 NBA Finals. The Indiana Pacers All-Star, speaking to reporters, expressed confidence in his recovery and readiness for the upcoming season.
“I saw a report that was like, ‘sources telling me Tyrese will be healthy.’ I am the source, so I can tell you: I am healthy right now,” Haliburton joked during his recent media session.
Haliburton confirmed that he feels excellent and is actively participating in regular pickup games. He stated that he would be ready if the season started today, highlighting his eagerness for the games to commence.
As Haliburton re-joins team practices before the new season, he will be alongside several new veteran players. The Pacers have added Kelly Oubre Jr. on a two-year contract worth $16.5 million and veteran forward Larry Nance Jr. Haliburton expressed his excitement about these additions.
“Kelly’s a guy I got to know from working with Drew Hanlan in the summer. We’ve had a few workouts together, lifted together, so he’s a guy who’s been annoying to go against throughout my career, so I’m excited for him to be on our side,” the Pacers star stated.
Haliburton believes Oubre will enhance the team both offensively and defensively, especially against strong opponents in the Eastern Conference like the Philadelphia 76ers. He noted the league’s emphasis on wing players, which makes Oubre’s addition crucial.
Nance’s presence is expected to bolster the frontcourt depth, offering the Pacers more strategic options. Additionally, the Pacers selected Purdue playmaker Braden Smith after trading with the Chicago Bulls for the No. 38 pick.
Haliburton previously led the Pacers to eliminate the New York Knicks from the 2025 NBA Playoffs before sustaining his injury. With the Knicks winning the championship in his absence, Haliburton is determined to help his team succeed in the Eastern Conference once more.
