The Dallas Wings, a WNBA franchise, have announced a move to downtown Dallas for the next season. The team will play all their home games at the American Airlines Center (AAC), sharing the venue with the NBA’s Mavericks. This arena seats 20,000 fans, offering significantly more space than their current venue.
Playing at the AAC is expected to be a temporary arrangement. In 2024, the Wings signed a 15-year agreement with the city of Dallas to use a renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium. This venue will have about 10,000 seats and is only a few blocks from the AAC. Construction delays at this site have necessitated the temporary shift.
Greg Bibb, CEO and managing partner of the Dallas Wings, expressed enthusiasm about the relocation. He stated, “Today’s announcement marks a pivotal step in the team’s relocation to Dallas as well as our continued growth as a professional sports enterprise.”
Additionally, the team is preparing to move into a new $55 million training facility next April. This facility is currently under construction in a Dallas neighborhood. Since relocating to North Texas in 2016, the Wings have held home games and practices at the University of Texas at Arlington’s College Park Center. This previous location had a seating capacity of 6,251 and is located about 20 miles from downtown Dallas.
The Wings have already experienced playing at AAC, having hosted two regular-season games there in 2025. They secured a win against the Chicago Sky in one of these games. Two more home games are scheduled at AAC for the current season.
